Jazz Fest time is always a fun and busy time of the year for N.O. musicians. Everyone plays with everyone and there are lots of musicians in town from all over, hanging, playing and checking out this killer music scene we have here (it happens all year long, not just at JF time. It’s not quite like the frenzy it is now, but it’s always happening.). Alvin Ford, our killer young drummer had a gig with Delfeayo Marsalis in NYC this day so we were able to get Adam Deitch, the killer drummer from NYC, who plays with Lettuce, Break Science and The Royal Family Players and just about everyone, to fill in for him. There was no time for rehearsing so it was hit it hard and wish it well. And well it went, too. Adam has a great feel and vibe, so the night was a delight and everything was alright.

This was a fun show with Dave Malone as a special guest. We’ve done a few so far and they have all been good, but were limited by the time we had to play. This one was a stretch out and it hit some very nice moments. All night long the moments kept coming. It was loose and tight at the same time. If you know what I mean. -ck

It’s always awesome to play festivals like this. Out in the woods with thousands of people camping and jamming to music all day and night. It’s all about the music and the warm friendly environment. -ck
